From Concept to Completion

The creation of “Les boutiques magiques” for Only The Brain in Grenoble showcases INDESTROOM’s ability to bring beloved fictional worlds to life through immersive design and cutting-edge automation. This project combined nostalgic wizarding world aesthetics with modern escape room technology.
01 · CONCEPT

Concept and Design

The room was designed around the iconic “Diagon Alley” theme, inspired by the magical shopping street from the Harry Potter universe. The goal was to create an authentic atmosphere where players feel like young wizards exploring secret shops, discovering hidden magical objects, and solving enchanting puzzles.

The Sketches and Concept Art:
  • Detailed recreations of wizard shop facades (Ollivanders, Flourish & Blotts, Apothecary)
  • Magical props: floating candles, enchanted books, wand selection mechanisms
  • Hidden compartment designs integrated into period-accurate furniture
  • Atmospheric lighting plans mimicking candlelit alleyways
  • Strategic placement of RFID-triggered magical effects
These materials formed the foundation for equipment production and automated spell-casting systems.
02 · PRODUCTION

Equipment Development and Production

The assembly process included:
  • Production of photorealistic wall panels depicting wizarding shops
  • Custom-built antique-style furniture with integrated puzzle mechanisms
  • Installation of RFID wand-detection systems (players use “magic wands” to trigger effects)
  • Voice-activated audio spells and ambient magical soundscapes
  • Synchronized lighting effects (flickering candles, glowing potions)
  • Testing all puzzles for child-safety and durability
During the production phase, each magical mechanism was tested for ease of use, reliability, and compatibility with Only The Brain’s central control software. Special attention was paid to ensuring that children aged 8+ could successfully interact with all puzzles.
03 · DELIVERY

Delivery and Installation

The escape game was packaged in specialized export containers, which allowed:
  • Safe transport to France with full customs documentation
  • Quick on-site assembly with labeled components
  • Minimal modification to the existing Grenoble location
Installation took approximately one week and was carried out by the Only The Brain team with remote INDESTROOM technical support via video call. The modular design eliminated the need for structural renovations — the escape game adapted seamlessly to the existing 50 m² commercial space.
