Interactive Archaeology Museum: Hands-On Stations Next to Original Finds

A major archaeological site needed a museum that makes visitors feel this history is theirs. We built a route of gradual immersion, where hands-on stations stand right next to the original finds.

Project scope

About 450 m²

foyer, multimedia hall and two halls

4 eras

Stone Age to Middle Ages

140 m²

space for temporary exhibitions

Hands-on

touch, listen and compare

Location and client under NDA.

The challenge

Present a major archaeological site and give visitors a feeling that this history is theirs.

What we did

A route of gradual immersion: a foyer that introduces the land (78 m²), a multimedia hall on its geology (58 m²), two permanent halls (175 m²) and a space for temporary exhibitions (140 m²). Four eras: Stone Age, Bronze Age, Early Iron Age and Middle Ages, with hands-on stations next to the original finds. Multimedia content by our group’s own content studio.

For whom: Archaeology, history and regional museums.

A route of gradual immersion

Foyer, 78 m²

The first look at the land and its history.

Multimedia hall, 58 m²

The geological story of the place on a large screen, with content by our group’s own content studio.

Two permanent halls, 175 m²

Four eras of human life, from the Stone Age to the Middle Ages, around the original finds.

Touch and compare

Tables with furs and materials that visitors may touch and compare with the objects in the showcases.

Listening horns

Sound stations shaped like horns: visitors lean in and hear the sounds of the past.

Models and diorama

A model of an ancient settlement and a forest diorama with a wooden path.
